About STEMVoyager
At STEMVoyager, we believe learning should be an adventure, one that sparks curiosity, creativity, and confidence.
Our mission is simple: to turn everyday learning into hands-on discovery through curriculum-aligned STEM kits that kids love to build and explore.
Born from years of classroom experience and a passion for practical learning, we’ve seen how children light up when they can touch, test, and truly understand the science behind the world around them.
Our Story
StemVoyager was founded by Hannes and Maggel Bernhardt, a husband-and-wife team combining hands-on classroom experience with deep insight into how schools actually operate behind the scenes.
Originally from Western Australia, StemVoyager is now proudly based in Queensland, where we continue to design and deliver high-quality STEM learning kits for Australian classrooms, families, and home educators.
Hannes has spent years working directly with students and teachers in STEM education. At Little Grove Primary School, he ran after-school STEM clubs where students designed, built, and experimented together, learning through doing, not memorising. One of his proudest moments was mentoring students in the Schools Solar Challenge, where they engineered and raced their own solar-powered creations. Seeing their faces light up with discovery reminded us why we started this journey.
Maggel, however, brings a different, and equally important, perspective. Working as part of the school management team in the office, Maggel was responsible for purchasing educational resources and supporting the day-to-day management that keeps schools running. In this role, she saw first-hand how each year more administrative responsibility is placed on teachers, without additional time being allocated. Lesson preparation, curriculum alignment, assessment, marking, reporting, and documentation all sit on top of already full teaching loads.
These combined experiences became the core drivers behind how StemVoyager resources are designed.
That is why every StemVoyager kit includes:
- structured student workbooks
- clear marking keys
- curriculum alignment references
- guided lesson journeys
These are not add-ons, they are intentional design choices to reduce preparation and marking time, while still delivering rich, hands-on learning experiences.
Supporting Parents & Home Educators
StemVoyager is not only designed for schools.
Many parents, especially home schooling families, want learning experiences that are meaningful, structured, and aligned to the Australian Curriculum, without needing to be education experts themselves.
Our kits support parents by:
- providing clear instructions and explanations
- breaking learning into manageable steps
- including expected outcomes and reflection prompts
- removing guesswork around “what should my child be learning?”
Parents can confidently facilitate learning, while children engage in building, testing, problem-solving, and thinking like young engineers.
Building 21st Century Skills
Beyond curriculum outcomes, StemVoyager is intentionally designed to develop 21st Century Skills, including:
- problem-solving and critical thinking
- creativity and design thinking
- collaboration and communication
- persistence and resilience
- real-world application of knowledge
Students are encouraged to plan, test, refine, and reflect. Skills that matter well beyond the classroom.
